Shoe Box Cake

I made this cake for my sister-in-law's birthday. I started by baking a sheet cake and cut it into thirds. I stacked two layers to make the main part of the shoe box. Then I cut a cake board to fit the lid of the shoebox. I secured the cake with a bit of frosting to the cake board and placed it on top of the main part of the box after I had covered each in fondant. Then I placed the hardened pieces of gumpaste (tissues) around the edges. I had previously cut them into triangles and let them hardened over gift wrap tissue. I probably will do them a different way next time seeing as I didn't like the way they turned out. The sandal was cut using a template I made and then rested to dry on a foamcore bent to the right shape. I made a little strap, bow and heel and glued them together with water. After all was dry I sprayed it with Wilton silver color spray. This was a lemon cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.
