Here's a fun cake I did for the family on Christmas Day. These drippy ganache cakes are super trendy right now. I just love the loads of candy and sprinkles that adorn the top! So festive!

This pretty and simple cake is hand painted with luster dust. I love the streaky finish. The topper is fondant then covered in gold sprinkles. The flower is made of edible wafer paper. This is a hummingbird cake with cream cheese frosting and covered in fondant.

So I decided to enter a donation gingerbread house into the Festival of Trees for the second time this year. The donations are all auctioned off and all the money goes directly to Primary Children's Hospital. I had to sign up months ago and an idea to put on the sign. I had been wanting to try making an UP house for awhile so I thought this would be a perfect design. I found a template online but unfortunately it was missing some pieces and had some extra pieces so I had to improvise a little bit. Some of the roof angles were off and gave me a headache but I pushed though.
The start of my gingerbread house. I used a recipe which didn't call for molasses hence the light coloring. I figured no one be eating this anyways and it would be on display for the holidays.
Putting on the final touches at home. Kevin and Paul seem to like it. :) I used gum balls for my balloons attached to a round Styrofoam. My husband had the great idea to add in more gum balls by piercing them with toothpicks to give it more dimension. Brilliant!
I had to add a handmade edible Carl and Ellie.
Me and my house at the Festival of Trees.

How cool is to be asked to make a mountain out of cake? Well that's what happened right there! I was also asked to make one of the Pokemon characters flying down the mountain. Her son says I should be on TV! What a sweet kid!

I absolutely loved studying modern art in college, so when I was asked to make a Mondrian inspired cake I was so excited. The cake was for the happy couple's 5th wedding anniversary, but they preferred it simple with no wording. I improved a lot in this cake with sharper edges by using some new techniques. The cake is dark chocolate with bavarian cream and dark chocolate chocolate ganache. This is the first cake in a long time that I wanted to dive head first into! Mmm.

My first My Little Pony Cake! It's funny how cake themes often come to me in twos! I must admit I loved these toys growing up! They are so fun. Does anyone remember Megan? She was a doll and horse trainer of the ponies, had that too. these ponies are just so magical with there wings and beauty marks. I enjoyed doing that little rainbow heart theme around the bottom to tie in the big one on top.

I made this cake for my sister in law's birthday and first marathon. She is an avid runner and it is based off a shoe she owns that she once posted on Instagram. It's such a pretty shoe and I love the way the colors came out so bright!

I just love the way this hamburger cake turned out. The fries are strips of fondant accented with cocoa powder. I also used cocoa powder on the top of the bun and hand sculpted each sesame seed. The cake is chocolate with one layer peeking out as the patty.

These handmade edible figurines named Manicka, Hurvinek & Zeryk and from a beloved puppet show from the Czech Republic on a "We will miss you" farewell cake. Red Velvet with Cream Cheese frosting. I decided to try out a wood stump look since the design was up to me. I like the way it turned out but my favorite part is still the figurines. I was told the couple decided to keep them hopefully their dog doesn't get to them. Ha ha!

I made this coaster cake for a roller coaster fanatic. It did take me some brainstorming to figure out how to do this one. The base is two layers of cake and then I molded curved pieces out of rice krispy treats, covered them in chocolate to smooth out and then in fondant. The most time consuming part was the bars on the coaster, making them and applying them. The cake is lemon with buttercream frosting.

I love this cute and simple teacher retirement cake. I hand sculpted the little apple and crayons, and music notes. The base is all buttercream which can definitely be a challenge to smooth perfectly but I love the mix of piped details and the fondant accents. The cake is carrot cake.

So I like to have a little fun every year to pick the cake design I want to celebrate my husband's birthday. There seems to be a running theme of food made of cake - i.e. sushi cake, a enchilada cake, (batman not so food) and this year with a pancake cake. He really loves making me pancakes in the morning, he used to put in strange concoctions like crystal lite, cocoa powder or orange juice. I didn't care for that much, this time it was time for me to make the pancakes for him! Nothing too strange here though - real maple cake with caramel buttercream.

My husband works at a Hardware store and they wanted a cake to celebrate the boss'es birthday. I was excited to make a tool box cake and hand sculpt all these tools. I used silver colored luster dust to give them some shine. The cake was apple pie cake.
